Course Overview

This interactive training course is intended for novice pedestrian-controlled pallet truck operators. This course fully complies with the approved code of practice for the training of lift truck operators.

On completion of this novice training course, operators should have a good understanding of their duties in relation to pedestrian controlled pallet trucks operations. Use pallet trucks safely and in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines and accepted good practice.

  • Identify, describe, explain components parts
  • Rating charts and sources of information
  • Stability and rating of the pallet truck
  • Pallet truck controls and functions
  • Pre-use checks and defect reporting procedures
  • Operate and manoeuvre the pallet truck safely in an open area and restrictive areas
  • Correctly steer forwards and in reverse – with and without loads
  • Travelling with larger loads
  • Understand the safe loading of the pallet truck
  • Correctly negotiate loading ramps and slopes
  • Correctly position pallets and loads
  • Safe charging procedures (where applicable)
  • Parking procedures
